A Tragedy in Guatemala

A tragedy…

I’m sick at the thought of the news I just saw on CNN, a day after my last post. On December 27, 2025, a bus plunged into a ravine off of CA-1 in Guatemala, killing 15 and injuring more than a dozen others. That is a highway we traveled on my School the World trip from Guatemala City to the Santa Cruz del Quiche area. Those turns and cliffs I know all too well. On that ride, it was chilling to imagine such a tragedy. While the cause of the accident is unknown, from my own personal observations, I know those are narrow roads with pockets of dense fog. My heart goes out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, and I wish a speedy recovery for those injured.
